Contact Lens Exams

Don't B;ock The View

Contact Lenses

Contact lenses correct Myopia, Astigmatism, Presbyopia, Keratoconus, and almost all surface diseases. Our contact lens expert has over 25 years of experience fitting all types of contact lenses at large ophthalmology centers. We provide a personal experience like none other. Come for a free consultation to determine what we can do for you! Call us at (239)334-2015.

During your contact lens exam, our contact lens specialist will analyze your refractive prescription and evaluate your corneal health, including your tears and lids structures. Once we gather all the necessary information, we will discuss your expectations with contact lenses and suggest the best lens and care system for you.  We will teach you the insertion, removal, and care of your lenses with TLC. Insertion and removal are easy when you are taught properly. You can usually leave wearing your new contact lenses that same day.  You may require a return visit included with the contact lens exam.

Refitting of existing contact lens wearers:

If you feel that your vision or comfort is inadequate with your current lenses, we can help! Our contact lens expert at Florida Optical Services can assess if you will benefit from changing brands, power, or size. Your eyes will tell you if you are in the wrong lens system.

Custom Made Contact Lenses

Better Vision With Lenses Made Just For You!

Disposable contact lenses are great, but sometimes they simply do not provide the full correction, and we must think about custom-made lenses.

Disposables only come in predetermined powers, curves, and diameters. Many people need to be custom-made, but they are arbitrarily fitted in disposables enduring uncomfortable lenses with poor-quality vision. Our contact lens expert will give you options! Custom-made contact lenses come in expanded powers, more base curves, and larger or smaller diameters to best fit your eyes. Here we give you options!

Modalities of Corrective Contact Lenses

Contact Lenses For Distance

Clear distance vision is available in a wide variety of materials, designs, and colors. Easy and inexpensive correction for all refractive errors.

Toric lenses correct astigmatism. They come in disposable and custom-made, so no matter the degree of astigmatism, there is a contact lens for you! Additionally, they also come in colors.

Contact Lenses for Distace and Near

Monovision contact lenses are worn to correct one eye for distance vision and the other eye to correct near vision. This modality works very well, but multifocal lenses have slowly replaced it.

These lenses are equivalent to progressive eyeglasses as you can see distance, intermediate and near. In the past, they corrected near and farsighted refractive errors, but now they also correct astigmatism.

Contact Lens Materials

Semi-Soft Lenses (RGP) Gas Permeable Lenses.

They are sometimes erroneously referred to as hard lenses. In reality, these lenses are semi-soft as they flex and allow oxygen exchange between the cornea and lens. Hard lenses were made of hard material that did not allow oxygen exchange. There are many advantages to gas-permeable lenses.

Soft Lenses come in different materials, and their high water content makes them extremely pliable,  They require less adaptation time. Soft lenses come in disposable designs and custom-made.

Color Contact Lenses

We fit All types of Color lenses

Color contact lenses provide an enhanced color or can even change the color of your eyes.!  Many patients are told that these lenses only correct Myopia or hyperopia, but not astigmatism.  In addition to Myopia and Hyperopia, we also have color contacts that correct astigmatism. Color contacts for astigmatism come in many colors, not just a few.

Scleral lenses are a specialty all by themselves and can help many conditions, such as dry eye and even Keratoconus.

When you come to us, rest assured we have the experience and equipment to handle your case. These lenses are as large as most soft lenses but are made of an RGP (semisoft material). The lenses are vaulted, and the inner space left is filled with fluid, never touching your corneas, only a small margin area outside of the cornea allowing comfortable wear.

Prosthetic Contact lenses - Black Pupil

Colors Prosthetics

Prosthetic Color Contact Lenses

Our office also does prosthetic lenses that hide color or scars in non-seeing eyes allowing patients to live a more comfortable life. Call us, we can help!

These lenses usually have a black-painted pupil and are made to color match the fellow eye. They are mostly soft lenses but could also be made by an ocularist in PMMA material.

Most soft Color prosthetic lenses are hand-painted. They also come with printer-made color printed with a black or clear pupil.
